Laith MacGregor’s work, including his ball-point pen drawings on table tennis tables, reveals an abiding interest in various types of sport and recreation. His proposed new work for the Basil Sellers Art Prize 5, Modern god, will be a major work about the idolization of athletes in contemporary life. It will depict a larger-than-life figure representing all codes of sport, referencing headlines and images drawn from the media sports coverage in 2015 and 2016.
