Scott Redford draws upon his experiences growing up on the Gold Coast to explore different aspects of social identity. Redford recognises the supreme place of sport in Australian popular culture, but also speaks of how sporting environments - arenas, schoolyards or beaches - are all sites of 'codified warfare'. Redford is interested in the base, aggressive emotions that arise from a place called 'paradise'.
Scott Redford was born in 1962 on the Gold Coast, Queensland. He currently lives and works in Brisbane. Redford has held more than fifty solo exhibitions.
